When most James Madison University students were packing up for the year and heading home, 50 students quickly shifted gears from focusing on their studies to focusing on others. JMU's Alternative May Break participants packed up and loaded a bus bound for New Orleans, La.

The SUNY Geneseo chapter of the Golden Key International Honour Society recently inducted students into the organization during a campus ceremony. Juniors or seniors with a grade point average that places them in the top 15 percent of their class are eligible for membership. Inductees from this area include:

Siena College's James P. King Moot Court/Mock Trial Team tied for 7th in their regional tournament and will compete at nationals March 15-17, 2013.

Over 300 JMU students embarked on 30 spring break trips around the country and world. The students spent the week living simply, focused on service in their destination community but also on teamwork and reflection within their group. SUNY Canton recently recognized students who excelled academically during the Fall 2012 semester. Several area residents recently served as a part of James Madison University's 2012 orientation team. Orientation Peer Advisers are a group of students selected each spring to work with JMU's first-year Summer Springboard and 1787 August Orientation programs. Assisting the orientation office in the supervision of our 250 First yeaR Orientation Guide (FrOGs) volunteers, OPAs are a key link in the successful transition of first-year students to James Madison University. The Orientation Operations Assistants work diligently behind the scenes to make sure that the transition experience is as seamless as possible. OOAs work throughout the year assisting JMU guests, students, faculty, and staff members as well as the members of the Orientation Office professional staff. Their time and effort are crucial to the success of the JMU orientation program.
